BIOPOLIS, S.L. performs expression of therapeutic proteins and enzymes in bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungi, developing customized solutions to solve expression-related problems. We can also determine the biological activity of the target protein. Our clients receive samples at each stage of the process for their validation. Once the production process has been perfected, we can scale up production and manufacture pilot batches at our own facilities.

  • Prokaryotic and eukaryotic model systems:
    • Escherichia coli
    • Bacillus subtilis
    • Pseudomonas putida
    • Saccharomyces cerevisiae
    • Schizosaccharomyces pombe
    • Pichia pastoris
    • Aspergillus nidulans
  • If required, we can work with unconventional species, providing validation of expression systems.
  • Expression of intracellular or secreted enzymes, peptides and proteins. We design and develop assays to determine biological activity. Epitope tagging to facilitate detection and /or purification. Stabilization by mutagenesis, co-expression and solubilisation in vivo.
  • Optimization of expression, culture medium and induction conditions. Definition of conditions for extraction, purification and renaturation. Quality control to assess sample purity (densitometry, immunoassay, HPLC), biological activity, contaminants, etc.
  • Supply and characterization of samples for biochemical and technological evaluation, stability tests, structural determination assays, immunoassays, use as analytical standards, preclinical assessment.
