A large amount of waste and industrial by-products contain sugars and proteins. These can be utilized as substrates for biological transformation to obtain high-value compounds by the chemical industry, such as additives, biofuels, bioplastics, and polymer precursors.

BIOPOLIS, S.L. characterizes and prepares industrial substrates for the production of chemical compounds:

  • Automotive alcohols and polymer synthesis: ethanol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol, 1,3-propanediol, 2,3-butanediol.
  • Polymers of microbial origin: polyhydroxyalkanoates, bacterial cellulose, aminated polysaccharides.
  • Mono and di-carboxylic acids as synthesis intermediates.
